Ease the Stress to Help Ensure Success: Redox Provides Essential Benefits for Fruit Crops

by Jasmine Baird

If you grow fruit in the Pacific Northwest, you know every crop has its own rhythm and its own headaches. But no matter what you’re growing, the goal is always the same: keep your plants stable, healthy, and productive through whatever the season throws at them.

diKaP has become a year-round go-to for a lot of the growers I work with, and it really earns its keep during a long, hot summer. Even better, we’ve seen great results when it’s paired with some of our other bio-nutrients. Let’s talk about what that looks like for cherries and apples.

Cherries: Setting Up Next Year’s Crop Right Now

Immediately following harvest is one of the most important stretches for your orchard’s future. What you do now directly shapes next year’s buds and next year’s yield.

While your trees’ leaves are still actively photosynthesizing, they’re storing up the energy and resources they’ll need for healthy bud development. That makes post-harvest the perfect window to replenish nutrients and help your trees bank what they need before dormancy sets in.

Post-Harvest Program

A post-harvest program that includes diKaP or Banx® helps support:

Think of it as giving your trees a head start before they even wake up next spring.

Application rate

Apply 2 lbs of diKaP or 3 lbs of Banx® with Post-Harvest Urea sprays.

Apples: A Few Simple Steps for Better Color This Fall

If you’re growing apples, now’s a great time to start thinking about color development ahead of harvest. The good news? You don’t need to overcomplicate it.

Two proven options are diKaP and OxyCom® Calcium. Which one makes sense for your orchard really comes down to your specific priorities.

Both deliver plant-available potassium and help ease overall stress on the tree. That matters more than you might think — when plant charge balance is properly maintained, it can put more of its energy toward yield and fruit quality instead of fixing problems.

OxyCom Calcium brings a bit less potassium to the table, but makes up for it with calcium nutrition that strengthens cell walls, a better option for those varieties susceptible to calcium deficiencies.

Whichever route you choose, the goal is the same: less stress and better, more uniform color.

Application rate

Apply 2 lbs of diKaP or Oxycom Calcium at 4 weeks pre-harvest and 2 weeks pre-harvest.
